Matt To'omua to miss Wallaby tour due to concussion

Australia will miss the services of playmaker Matt To'omua for the end of year European tour after failing to make sufficient recovery from a concussion.
The 31-year-old sustained the blow during a trial game between Wallabies ‘B’ team and the Western Force played in Perth on 4th September.
To'omua last played for the Wallabies on 14th August against the All Blacks in the Bledisloe Cup contest in Auckland and has 59 Test caps to his name.
According to Herald, To'omua confirmed that he will not be part of the European tour and will spend time with his family before linking up with his club Melbourne Rebels ahead of the 2022 season.
The 6ft centre, who had signed a contract extension with Rebels and Rugby Australia until the 2023 World Cup already had a history with head injuries including two blows in 2014.
Australia head coach Dave Rennie is expected to announce the squad later this week as they face Japan on 23rd October followed by clashes against Scotland, England and Wales.
A Progressive Rugby spokesperson said: “While it’s disappointing for players to miss out on the opportunity of further international caps it’s essential that concussion is managed carefully to best protect both the player’s long and short term health.”
